About counseling….

Life throws us curveballs…and sometimes we realize that our old ways of coping just aren’t working anymore.  Counseling can be immensely helpful for getting back on track or adjusting to new life circumstances that are beyond our control.  Learning new ways to engage problems, improve relationships, and deal with our negative feelings can be very beneficial to establishing and maintaining health, wellbeing, and happiness–so that the life we are living is one we truly want to be in!  Kristen specializes in personal and relationship issues, coping with changes, and seasons of depression and anxiety.

Kristen also teaches better communication skills, conflict resolution, and how to have a “good fight.” She helps persons improve their coping skills and make needed changes–whether in one’s circumstances, perception, or behavior, in order to create greater happiness and satisfaction with one’s life and relationships.

Kristen welcomes a variety of issues, individual diversity, and all kinds of couples. She strives to create a safe and accepting space for persons to be able to share their deepest needs, fears, hurts, and vulnerabilities, so that healing and growth can take place, and forward movement can begin.

About this practice….

Kristen formed Thresholds Counseling and Consulting, PLLC in order to do “soul work” — in the original sense of the word psyche, or the Gaelic anam, which is translated soul.  Reclaiming the true meaning of psyche as soul gathers in the comprehensive nature of the psyche as not just one’s cognitive self, but the whole self, encompassing mind, heart, spirit, body, and emotions.
